The remarks regarding illegal campaigning should be expected from the defeated side - how else to justify the defeat? The ASM leadership who supported this Constitution are genuine people who have good intentions. They know that (technically) illegal campaigning must have occurred on both sides at times, but the voter results were just too overwhelmingly one-sided for them to have a legitimate case. The Vote No side has photographic evidence of our literature being torn down as well. This type of behavior was not condoned by the Vote No side, and likely not by the leadership of the Committee - it's simply inevitable among some members given the passions on both sides.

Regarding the Ed Board's recommendation for the disbandment of ASM (http://badgerherald.com/oped/2009/02/25/disband_asm.php), it seems like the inevitable temper tantrum of an entity that has suddenly realized its irrelevancy. With only 39% on their side, maybe the entire "campus elite" should rethink their relevance, for that matter. It is rather laughable looking back on the pompous commentary from both papers regarding the Constitution coverage, particularly their viscous criticisms of the progressives who opposed the revisions. Students sided with the "scrappy assortment of socialist and antiwar organizations" on this one because we actually put forth a united, aggressive fight.
But the truth is that I have nothing but reconciliatory feelings toward those on the other side - even the College Dems, who succeeded in alienating themselves from just about everyone on the progressive side (not just the 'far left') on this issue (aren't they supposed to be the left-wing of their party?) - especially most members of the Committee, who like I said, are mostly ethical people with the best interests of students as their principal concern.
What's next for the left? The super-secret progressive slate, of course! We remain committed to our contention that ASM needs a makeover in its current membership. The left has remained disinterested from student government for far too long. That period is over.

Badger Catholic did not endorse either side, according to BC Chair Megan Schmitz. Just another factual error from the vote no side
Where did you get that information? I've talked with Megan directly and she said precisely the opposite of what you are saying. She even emailed the BC list telling everyone to vote no. Most likely you talked with her before Monday, at which point they still hadn't endorsed.
If anyone knows about illegal campaigning, it's Kurt Gosselin. Some would say he has personal experience with the term.
